Tabasco (Captain Marco), New Orleans Opera

  • New Orleans Opera (map)

Have you ever wondered to yourself: “I wonder how they came up with the hot sauce Tabasco?” What could this origin be? In our 75th Anniversary and New Orleans’ Tricentennial, we thought it might be a good question to ask since Louisiana is the source of this powerful and classic spicy sauce. International conductor Paul Mauffray has been asking this question too and will bring his critical edition of this delightful score by George Whitefield Chadwick to life, this time with the permission of the McIlhenny Tabasco producer!

This chamber series jewel is the rarity of the season with a rollicking score and magically funny libretto that will delight in this charming burlesque opera. This time we’re performing at Le Petit Théâtre Du Vieux Carré in the heart of the French Quarter. Learn the mystery of Tabasco and you’ll never eat bland food again!
