VIVA PUCCINI

  • Die Glocke (Großer Saal) (map)

ABOUT THE CONCERT

Program: Giacomo Puccini: Preludio sinfonico as well as arias, overtures and interludes from "Tosca", "Manon Lescaut", "La Rondine", "La fanciulla del West", "Le villi" and "Il tabarro"

Giacomo Puccini (1858 - 1924) is, along with Giuseppe Verdi (1813 - 1901), the most famous Italian opera composer. Whether “Tosca”, “La bohème”, “Madame Butterfly” or “Turandot”, they are synonyms for Italian opera par excellence! Why? Because the languishing, wallowing or effervescent sounds of their fateful stories touch us again and again!

In honor of Puccini, whose death marks the 100th anniversary on November 29th, the music festival is celebrating a gala with Jonathan Tetelman: the Chilean-American tenor, who has already shone on stage in roles such as Rodolfo, Cavaradossi and Pinkerton With his current album “The Great Puccini” he is finally recommended as one of the great verismo tenors. His expressive, dark-timbred voice can confidently shape a finely nuanced piano with unheard-of lightness, in order to effortlessly reach top notes and let them flow smoothly in the next moment.

General Music Director Marko Letonja and the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra will passionately support him and conjure up the powerful forces of love, longing and drama - goosebumps guaranteed!
