The Great Puccini

“Tetelman is the real deal”
– Gramophone

Winner of the Gramophone Classical Music Awards, 2024

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of one of the most popular opera composers to date, Jonathan Tetelman releases his second DG album with a homage to the composer and his immortal melodies. The album consists of well-known tenor arias such as Nessun dorma, E lucevan le stelle, Donna non vidi mai and Che gelida manina, popular ensembles from “Madame Butterfly”, “La bohème” and “Il tabarro” as well as rarities such as Torna ai felici from “Le Villi” and Parigi nè la città dei desideri from “La Rondine” together. In addition, some accompanying digital extras will be produced to support the physical product in streaming; three mood arrangements of particularly catchy arias are planned.

Tenor Jonathan Tetelman has chosen to follow the success of his DG debut album Arias with a tribute to Puccini, the centenary of whose death falls in 2024. The Great Puccini, presenting extracts from nine operas, was recorded earlier this year in Prague with the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

– San Francisco Classical Review

Winner of the Opus Klassik Awards, 2023
Winner of the Oper! Awards, 2023

Chilean-American tenor Jonathan Tetelman has already established a reputation in the operatic world as an engaging, distinctive and versatile performer. After signing an exclusive deal with Deutsche Grammophon last fall, he has now recorded his first DG album Arias, which was released on August 5, 2022. With his agile technique, dramatic eloquence and rich palette of vocal colors, Tetelman here embodies a range of roles from the French and Italian repertoire. We are delighted that we were able to record the album in the unique acoustics of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and to work with such supportive partners as the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria and its Music Director Karel Mark Chichon.
