Abu Dhabi Festival Gala

ABOUT THE CONCERT

The New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1972 by legendary conductors Seiji Ozawa and Naozumi Yamamoto. Charismatic Japanese conductor, Yutaka Sado, has been the music director since 2023 and he conducts two concerts to open the 2025 Abu Dhabi Festival. In the first concert, star tenor Jonathan Tetelman, praised for his ‘radiant and distinctive sound’, sings Arias by Puccini from Manon Lescaut, Le villi and Turandot. The pianist Kyohei Sorita, winner of the silver medal at the 2021 Chopin Competition in Warsaw, plays Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no. 2 and the orchestra plays Dvořák’s New World Symphony no. 9.
